A STUDY OF PUBLIC LIFE / GEORGE ST ŌTEPOTI DUNEDIN /

CLIENT. Dunedin City Council / ROLE. Research, Analysis & Reporting / TIMEFRAME. 2020 / STATUS. Complete

In its quest to become “one of the world’s great small cities”, central Ōtepoti (Dunedin) is poised to undergo significant transformation. Recognising that the quality of a city’s public realm has a direct correlation to the well-being of its people, a study of public life in the city centre was initiated.

With a focus on George St and the Octagon, registrations were gathered for pedestrian and cycle movements, staying activities, outdoor commercial seating occupancy, age and gender, user experience and walkability.

The data gathered, and the report generated, has been central to conversations regarding the future development of George St and the Octagon.
